Florida Pompano

With a deeply forked tail the Florida Pompano is popular for a number of sports fishermen in the Gulf Coast area. Most pompano weith less than 3 pounds (1 kg) and are typicall about 17 inches (43 cm) in length. Due to its voracious appetite, and growth rate, it is one of the many fish currently being farmed through aquaculture.

There are a number of different kinds of pompano, but this was is native to Florida and the rest of the Gulf Coast area. They are typically a blue-greenish and silver colored fish with yellow throat, belly, pelvic, and anal fins.
